Maggie & Ryan | Savannah, Georgia Engagement Photographer | Anna Benton Photography

I dare you to look through these photos from Maggie and Ryan's engagement session, and try not to smile. It's impossible! These two are so precious. SO in love. I could feel Jesus all up in this relationship, y'all. I can't wait to capture their Savannah wedding in June. Enjoy my favorites from their session. We started downtown and made our way to Wormsloe. Yay for sweet love!

Blake + Haden | Savannah Engagement Photographer | Anna Benton Photography

Y'all. Blake and Haden are absolutely beautiful, both inside and out. I had so much fun with these two during their engagement session! We started out at Bethesda, strolled downtown, and ended our session at North Beach. Basically all of my favorite places in Savannah! Haden is also one of the founders of S.O.U.L (The Shelter of United Love Ministries) which is a ministry located in Kenya with the goal to restore and rehabilitate street children. I am involved in an international ministry, so when I heard that Haden and Blake share a love for missions I knew our session was going to be GOOD. Enjoy my favorites from their day! :)

Chelsea + Jason | Savannah Engagement Photographer | Anna Benton Photography

Y'all, I CANNOT wait for Chelsea and Jason's wedding in September! These two are beautiful, inside and out. Chelsea and I went to high school together so when she contacted me to book her wedding, my heart was leaping! Also, can we just take a moment to acknowledge the beauty of Savannah?! I am SO excited to be back in the area. Let's do this, Savannah. :)

Andrew + Molly | Savannah, Georgia Engagement Session |Wedding Photographer - Anna Benton Photograph

I recently decided to throw an Instagram giveaway for a Savannah, Georgia session (you can follow me here.) Molly and Andrew were the awesome winners! These two are absolutely adorable, and I basically felt like I was hanging out with friends rather than clients. During their session we explored Forsyth, took a stroll down Gaston Street, and played in the park with their beautiful pups. Enjoy my favorite images from their engagement session! :)

The Comparison Trap | Anna Benton Photography

Hi Everyone! Anna Benton, here. :)

I'm blogging something out of my norm today, because I truly feel like the Lord has placed this topic on my heart for a reason. Every day, I use an awesome app called "YouVersion". I use this app because I love all of the different devotional plans that it has to relate and teach God's Word. I recently finished a plan called "The Comparison Trap". Y'all. I mean...Y'ALL. The moment I read the first day of this devotion, it was literally like a punch in the face from God. Not like a mean punch that knocked my teeth out..but like a loving wake up call. (That probably doesn't make sense..but it's fine..I've had too much coffee today...bye).

The first line of the plan reads this:

"The temptation to compare is as near as your next chat with a friend, trip to the store, or check-in on social media. It's never ending and it's exhausting. And whether you come out on top or come up lacking, there is no win in comparison. It's a trap."

In the world of photography, comparison can be a crippling and addicting path. As a photographer, it's easy for me to fall into this trap daily. Why are my photos not as creamy as hers? Why don't my photos make me want to weep and laugh all at the same time like Ben Sasso's? The constant urge to covet another photographer's success is endless, but here's the thing - you are not that photographer.

But Anna, who am I? You are YOU!

YOU are on your own creative path. YOU are forging the way. YOU are building a brand. YOU are fabulous in all your ways!

I am completely on the bandwagon with looking to other great photographers for inspiration and resources, but I am not for breaking yourself down in the name of comparison. I mean, Jasmine Star's blog is basically bae and Ben Sasso has a way of producing work that makes me melt, but instead of comparing ourselves in negative light - let's cherish these modern-day artists as inspiration.

Everyone has to start somewhere. Don't let the comparison trap keep you from becoming the greatest that you can be. You were made for greatness.

"I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well." //Psalm 139:14//

I wrote this blog post in my pajamas at 4:23PM.

With love,

Anna Benton
